Civil Rights Litigation Commercial Disputes Appellate Advocacy

Ash Ketchum is a Junior Associate in the Litigation group. His practice focuses on civil rights litigation, commercial disputes, and appellate advocacy. He drafts dispositive motions and appellate briefs, takes fact-witness depositions, and supports senior litigators in trial preparation. Ketchum earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2022 and his B.A. from Williams College in 2019. He clerked for the Hon. Juan R. Torruella on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit during the 2022โ€“2023 term โ€” Judge Torruella's final clerk class โ€” and joined Oak, Elm & Birch in 2023. ## Representative Matters - Associate counsel on a ยง 1983 civil rights action in the D. Conn. concerning municipal due-process claims, including drafting of the opposition to defendants' motion to dismiss, 2024. - Principal drafter of the opening brief in a commercial appeal currently pending before the Connecticut Appellate Court. ## Pro Bono Ketchum has logged more than 400 pro bono hours in his first two years at the firm, primarily through Statewide Legal Services of Connecticut and the Connecticut Veterans Legal Center.
